In meat products it is used as an anticoagulant of fresh livestock blood and as a curing accelerator. The detergent-building and rapid biodegradability characteristics of sodium citrate enable its use as an environmentally acceptable phosphate substitute in a large variety of household cleaning products.

- Shelf Life: Store in a clean, dry, well-ventilated warehouse at ambient temperature, away from odorous materials. Storage at temperatures greater than 35°C may lead to a decreased shelf-life. For stock control purposes, a shelf-life of 12 months is specified.
