Caramel Blackjack is an electropositive liquid caramel colour produced by the treatment of food grade carbohydrates with heat in the presence of food grade catalysts. Caramel 150c carry a positive ionic charge and are commonly used to color soy sauce and beer.

  • Description: This product is an electropositive liquid caramel produced by the treatment of food grade carbohydrates with heat in the presence of food grade catalysts.
  • Function / Dosage: Caramel Blackjack is a dark brown liquid. When diluted it should be clear with an odour and taste typical of burnt sugar. It is used to colour a wide variety of foods notably sauces and baked goods. Recommended dosage in baked goods is 0.5 � 3.0 % (w/w), Beer 0.1 %(w/v), Meat pies and canned meats 0.3 � 2.0 % (w/v).
  • Specific Gravity: 1.290 - 1.315 @ 20C
  • Ingredients: Caramel Blackjack is made from hydrolysed maize starch. It contains sulphur dioxide at levels up to 10 mg/kg and is free from other known allergens. Recommended labelling is CARAMEL (III) or Colour E150c however; please check local food labelling requirements to ensure compliance.

  • Shelf Life: Store in a clean, dry, well-ventilated warehouse at ambient temperature, away from odorous materials. Storage at temperatures greater than 35�C may lead to a decreased shelf-life. For stock control purposes, a shelf-life of 15 months from the date of manufacture is specified. Colour and viscosity increase on prolonged storage.
  • Regulations: This product shall at the time of delivery conform in every respect to the provisions of the Australia/NZ food standards and regulations made there-under. Caramel Color meets the requirements set forth in the color additive regulations defined in Title 21, U. S. Code of Federal Regulations, Part 73.85; The Food Chemicals Codex, Edition V; and other international specifications. This product does not require labelling as a genetically modified food in accordance with Food Standard1.5.2 - Foods produced using gene technology (FSANZ).
